If you are an experienced engraver and interested in this exciting two-week course, submit the completed application form with photo requirements by March 26, 2012. Your application will be personally reviewed by the Grand Master of your course, and invitations will then be sent to those who qualify. Please apply promptly — seating is limited.

Application Submission Requirements

1. Complete the application form in its entirety.

2. Submit two (2) identical sets of three (3) photos of your work with the application form. Photos will not be returned. Requirements:

  • Photos must be produced on high quality matte or glossy photographic paper at a 5” x 7” minimum. Photos submitted by any other means (CD, email, FTP) or less than minimum size will not be accepted.
  • Photos must show quality work, potentially qualifying you for the course selected.
  • Each photo may contain only one view of one piece of work.
  • Photos may not contain names or other personally identifiable marks or information. Such marks will be removed, edited, or otherwise covered.

Application Approval Process

After the application deadline, all candidates’ photos will be reviewed and edited to remove any names or identifying marks. Candidates will be assigned a number known only to Glendo management. Photos will be sent to the course instructor who will select twelve (12) students based on the work shown in the photos. Three alternates will also be selected to cover possible cancellations. Applications are kept confidential to ensure selections are unbiased. Instructors do not have access to names until after the selection process. Application deadline is March 26, 2012. Applicants will be notified of acceptance by April 27, 2012.

Fees and Payment

A deposit of $1,300 is due with your application and the balance of $1,395 is due upon acceptance into the class (a total of $2,695). Payments may be paid via credit card, money order, or check. All fees and payments are in US dollars. If your application is not accepted, all money will be refunded. Due to the substantial up-front cost of this program, your cancellation after acceptance will result in forfeiture of all fees paid. Should you be unable to attend, Glendo will make every effort to fill your seat. Please contact us immediately if you need to cancel. If we fill your seat, you will be refunded; otherwise, the fee is forfeited.

Your Bench Setup and Travel Plans

Glendo will provide benches, air, course supplies, and GRS equipment for all students. However, individuals who prefer to use other equipment (including but not limited to non-GRS power tools, chasing hammers, and other hand engraving tools) may bring their own equipment*. Upon acceptance, a GRS representative will contact you to begin making arrangements for your personal bench setup, travel plans, payment schedule, etc.

Innovative Techniques for World Class Stone Setting
*Students are not expected to be expert setters, but Alexander requires the use of a GraverMax or GraverMach. Hand setters will be unable to execute all of his special techniques without power tools.
